Hokkaido made me dream

patina
a safe distance
to contemplate the details
I learn that 32 kilometres deep
is relatively shallow
mud dark water
aching through a prefecture
Oregon, Port of Brookings harbour
swayed
by the name of its rivers
Pistol, Chetco
Curry Josephine county line swayed
I add an architrave
a ghost ship
listing
my hyperbole
minuscule
earth's axis
shifted
shortening the day by
1.8
micro
seconds
it was a school day

Here's another poem that creates a sense of time and place, a mood. And that last detail--it was a school day--gives added perspective.

if you are going to shorten a day, a school day it is...smiles...but maybe add a few more seconds to make it truly worth it...

I've been looking for a way to use architrave in a poem for awhile--you did it first, and I'll never do it better. Great mood to this--and there we were wondering why they taught us all this senseless stuff we'd never use...

Equal parts surreal rhapsody, geophysical tract, and whimsy. Yes, that final line makes the poem.
