before burning

she bares
her midriff
as if it were
her words
hegemony drips
like sweat between
her breasts
mirrors
crack
fragments
of subjugation
ambushed by brilliance
all her pieces
un

object of no one's eye
rejecting anatomy
flux
like autumn leaves
dead
as we
adore them still the tree
naked and spent

Love the litany of words first and last, so purely themselves, yet somehow imbued with a dark essence and progression simply by proximity. I also love the mysterious she, sweating hegemony and the fleeing beauty of the naked tree.

I felt a strong sense of dysmorphia, a loathing of physical self, a yearning for another facade. Was this your intent? Another reason I love art. So many messages seep through.

Ok, I won’t ask how you did that—not the burning, no, that’s child play; essentially :-), I mean the other stuff :-)

Seriously, though, that’s some fine work you’re doing there. I mean here:

mirrors
crack
fragments
of subjugation

Thanks for this.

I love the visual with your words. Also, the comparison of the fall leaves...I often think of that too, how they are so lovely as they die.
